SONOCO SL recently donated a brand new building to the Sierra Leone Ports and Harbours Authority (SLPHA), to help strengthen port security. The new building, constructed by SOHA, the SONOCO Group's construction subsidiary, is specially designed to house military guards, thus intensifying security measures within the port.
The need to relocate these military personnel arose following the construction of a new flour mill on the site of the former military building, now slated for demolition.
Mark Pritchard, Managing Director of SONOCO SL, expressed his enthusiasm at the fruitful collaboration between Sonoco and the port authority, highlighting the mutual benefits of this joint venture. He also emphasized SONOCO's ongoing commitment to supporting the port's infrastructure and security operations.
For his part, Martin Maada George Esq, Secretary of the Port Authority, welcomed SONOCO's proactive initiative as part of the government's strategy to attract investors, saying the move demonstrated the government's commitment to creating a business-friendly climate.
This partnership between SONOCO and SLPHA aims to strengthen safety measures while stimulating investment and economic growth.
